Successful food growing depends on a number of factors, one of which is understanding seasonal conditions most favourable for particular plants. The Southern Highlands climate can be classified as a cool temperate climate -  a zone with four distinct seasons with cold to very cold winters. The following seasonal planting calendars, developed by Permaculture Southern Highlands, can be used to time plantings to correspond to favourable growing conditions.
